Transform Damaged And Faded Retro Jeans Into Ones You Will Be Proud To Wear While Rocking And Rolling

If you are part of a rock band that covers songs from the recent past, you can dress the part by sprucing up a pair of old jeans from the same era that is slightly damaged and faded. The following tips will instruct you on how to turn a pair of stained jeans or recycled jeans (from an outlet such as Recover Brands) that have seen better days into ones that can help improve your image and provide you with confidence while you are performing in front of fans.

Materials

  • needle
  • thread
  • mild detergent
  • water
  • scrub brush
  • white vinegar
  • washing machine
  • dye
  • bucket of water
  • mixing stick
  • bath tub
  • iron
  • ironing board

Repair Tears And Remove Stains

Use a needle and thread to repair small tears in the jeans. If you have no experience sewing, you can drop the jeans off to a seamstress to have repairs made for a small fee. Treat stains in the fabric with a small amount of mild detergent that has been mixed with water. Allow the soapy mixture to soak into the stains for a few minutes and then move a gentle scrub brush back and forth over them to help loosen the foreign materials that are embedded in the fabric.

If some of the stains will not come out, add a small amount of white vinegar to them. Vinegar is a product that is often used to remove harsh stains and will not damage the material. Once you have removed as much of each stain as possible, launder the jeans in a washing machine that has been adjusted to a gentle cycle. Add a small amount of mild detergent to the machine before turning it on. Hang the clean jeans up to dry once they are clean.

Dye The Fabric

If portions of the jean material are faded, dye the jeans to their original color so that the fabric has a uniform appearance. Fill a bucket with warm water and add the recommended amount of clothing dye that is listed on the product's package to the bucket. Stir the dye into the water until it dissolves.

Place the jeans in the bucket and submerge them for several minutes. Once the faded portions look the same as the rest of the fabric, rinse the jeans with plain water inside of a bathtub. Excess dye will be emitted from the fabric while the jeans are being rinsed with water. Do not remove the jeans from the tub until the water that is released from the fabric is clear. Rewash the jeans and hang them up to dry.

Dress For Success

Iron the jeans if they are wrinkled. Put the jeans on with pride and dress them up with a shirt and accessories that are reminiscent of the same time era that you are performing songs from. When you get on the stage, hold your head up high and put forth your best effort as you perform in front of your audience.
